Benoni bridge safe for all road-users

The railway bridge crossing above Lakefield Avenue and Lanyon Street in Benoni, before the installation of the height sign

Motorists who pass under the bridge at Layton Road and Lakefield Avenue in Benoni, Ekurhuleni, can travel confident in the knowledge that the structure is now road compliant as a height sign has been installed.

After many lengthy interactions with both the City of Ekurhuleni and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA), a sign was installed on the bridge, the roads of which it crosses are made use of by heavy duty vehicles.

This sign will go a long way to ensure that this site does not fall victim to a tragic incident like the tanker explosion that occurred in Boksburg in December 2022.
