The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the City of Ekurhuleni notes with concern the unavailability of tools of trade in the Ekurhuleni call centre under the failing ANC/EFF coalition.

The City’s call centre is responsible for ensuring service delivery queries are escalated and residents calling in, are assisted quickly and efficiently. Instead, the 40 call centre agents working in this crucial service delivery department only have 10 laptops and two chargers.

This means each agent can only perform their duty for three hours in a 12 hour shift. It is no wonder residents reach out to the DA complaining of poor performance of the call centre.

This crucial department was previously under the now Executive Mayor, Ald Xhakaza, portfolio when he was the MMC for Corporate and Shared Services and dismally failed to turn the department around.

This doesn’t place a lot of confidence in his ability to steer the city into a new direction, where service delivery will be prioritised.
