DA calls for tougher policing as crime control crime in Ward 16

The Democratic Alliance in the City of Ekurhuleni has come out fighting for the residents of Kempton Park Extension, Kempton Park X2–4, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Allen Grove and Glen Marais in Ward 16 following the latest crime briefing of the Kempton Park SAPS in the 14th June 2023 where the latest crime stats were discussed.
The Crime Statistics show that the crime in the Kempton Park Extension and Kempton Park X2–4 is the Kempton Park SAPS main area of concern with 2/3 of the crime contributors occurring in this area.
Frustratingly there does not seem to be a plan to protect the residents of the area. The Kempton Park SAPS promote the operations that are done weekly by the SAPS reservists and the CPF patrollers every weekend but could not provide an answer to the question of whether these operations have any impact on the fight against crime.
Residents provide weekly complaints to the SAPS regarding the Illegal shebeens and load noise in the Ward, yet the SAP have not reacted. Residents and communities have lost faith in the SAPS.
As the DA, we stand united with the residents of Ward 16 and have submitted a memorandum to the SAPS Kempton Park on behalf of residents regarding Concerns that residents are having with the Kempton Park SAPS.
Categorised as one of the worst police stations in the country, we cannot stand idle as our communities suffer. The DA has submitted the memorandum to the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele and MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko.
The DA will not give up the fight to make our towns safer!
