DA Concerned about lack of Diesel at Edenvale Clinic
Statement by Cllr. Khathutshelo Rasilingwane — DA Party Whip of the Health and Social Development Oversight Committee in Ekurhuleni
Date: 14 October 2022
Release: Immediate
Type: Media statement
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ekurhuleni is concerned that there is not enough diesel being delivered on time to the Edenvale Clinic in order to keep the lights on during scheduled loadshedding.
This was revealed earlier this month during an oversight visit to the Edenvale Clinic, following numerous complaints from residents who had complained that when there is loadshedding, some of the consultation rooms are plunged into darkness, making it difficult for the staff to afford patients great service.
During the oversight visit the Clinic was being load shed and upon arrival we were well received by the Clinic’s Management who brought to our attention that the clinic has a fully functional generator however, the inconsistency in the delivery diesel is the main concern. They also informed us that orders are made on time however they still receive diesel very late.
Other concerns raised related to issues of maintenance, unsecured electrical cabling, fleet, clinic cleanliness, broken windows and a broken filing cabinet which results is some files not being properly filed.
As a result, we as the DA will be writing to the Department of Health to report all concerns that have been raised by the Edenvale clinic management.
The DA will continue to hold the Department to account. The caring DA will continue to ensure that the people of Ekurhuleni receive Better services.
