DA demands sewer infrastructure upgrade in Kempton Park, Ward 16

14 August 2024
The Democratic Alliance (DA) demands immediate action from the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) to address critical sewer infrastructure issues in Ward 16.
Over the past three months, residents in Kempton Park Extensions, Kempton Park X2–4, Allen Grove, Aston Manor, and Glen Marais, have experienced frequent sewer overflows due to new housing developments in Glen Marais and illegal room constructions in Kempton Park X2–4.
It is disgusting that every day our residents must manage sewage overflowing in their backyards.
This is not only unhealthy but violates residents’ rights to live in a dignified and a healthy environment.
I will submit questions to the MMC for Water and Sanitation, Cllr. Thembi Msane to ensure that this matter is given the high level of attention that it deserves.
A petition will be circulated that will seek to secure the necessary funds from the adjustment budget for urgent infrastructure upgrades for Ward 16, and I request that all residents support this petition.
The DA will continue to fight for the residents of Ward 16 to ensure that residents receive the services they deserve.
