Release: Immediate
Type: Media statement
Phase 2 of South Africa’s Covid-19 vaccination rollout commenced on Monday the 17th of May 2021. During this phase of the county’s vaccination drive, those over 60 as well as those considered high-risk living with comorbidities are targeted.
It is during this phase that the vaccination drive is expected to pick up momentum, and the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ekurhuleni encourages all residents to register online for the vaccine through the Electronic Vaccination Data System — COVID-19 Vaccine Registration (health.gov.za). Thereafter, they will be notified through an SMS as to when and where they will be able to get the vaccine should they be willing and eligible.
Phase 2 represents an important milestone for the country as it battles with the Covid-19 pandemic. The DA in Ekurhuleni will be closely monitoring the rollout to help ensure that the process is run smoothly and efficiently.
