The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Brackenhurst and Brackendowns welcomes the news that Brackenhurst Clinic has been granted permission to administer the Covid-19 vaccine, and encourages residents of Brackenhurst, Brackendowns and surrounding areas to visit the clinic for their vaccination. The Clinic is currently holding the Pfizer vaccine which is administered in two separate doses 42 days apart.

Despite the devastating third wave recently experienced showing signs of abating, the virus remains a reality. Vaccinations are effective in providing protection against severe illness and subsequent hospitalisation, thereby alleviating the strain the pandemic has placed on our healthcare system.

The vaccine is the most powerful weapon we have against Covid-19, and the more vaccinated residents there are, the sooner we can all enjoy social gatherings as we did prior to the pandemic. It is also the most effective tool we have in reopening the economy and recovering from the devastating lockdowns which have severely hindered economic growth.

While the DA continues to encourage individuals to take vaccines for protection against the adverse effects of Covid-19, we believe that making this mandatory takes away peoples freedom.
