The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ekurhuleni encourages all residents between the age of 35 and 49 to vaccinate against Covid-19 that continues to wreak havoc on our communities.

On the 15th of July 2021, National Government opened the vaccine registration for those aged between 35 and 49 via the EVDS system, with those registered to start receiving jabs on the 1st of August 2021.

In order to intensify the country’s vaccine drive, the Department of Health has announced that walk-ins within the age bracket will be able to receive their vaccinations before 1 August 2021, provided there are enough doses to accommodate them. It should be noted that residents in the 50–59 age bracket, as well as 60 and above, will receive priority at vaccination stations across the City.

While the Provincial Department of Health has indicated that no one within the age bracket will be turned away (registered or unregistered), residents will be required to show proof of identification through their ID book or card.

There are four easy ways to register for the vaccine which include the following:

· Whatsapp — Send the word REGISTER to 060 012 3456

· Dial *134*832*IDNUMBER#

· Online — Via the EVDS website at http://vaccine.enroll.gov.za

· Call 0800 029 999 toll free

The vaccination drive is critical to the success of the country’s response in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. The Third Wave of infections over the past few weeks have reminded us once again how devastating the pandemic is on our families, friends and communities. The vaccination will go a long way to providing an immune response amongst residents that will mitigate against the harmful effects of the virus.

The DA in Ekurhuleni thereby encourages all residents who are applicable to register and vaccinate without delay in order to overcome the deadly pandemic.
