Release: Immediate
Type: Media statement
Heritage month is a time to focus on the legacy that has been left by our forebearers, as well as the legacy we intend to leave. In 2021 voters in Ekurhuleni chose a Multi-Party Government to take the city forward, after years of neglect.
Turning around a legacy of poor governance is no small task, and it requires that residents, politicians, businesses, churches and civil society work together to make our city a better place.
The DA calls upon residents, businesses, and community stakeholders to use this Heritage Month as an opportunity to forge a new legacy of active citizenship by getting involved in the revitalization of the city.
This does not have to be an expensive project that costs taxpayers millions of rands. In fact, this is simply an invitation to communities to be pro-active in their city.
This can be done by getting involved in street committees, community policing forums, or keeping their own environments clean.
As the DA, we believe that uniting around common causes that affect our daily life will better foster social cohesion and build better communities.
