The Democratic Alliance in Ward 73, is pleased with the results of the local clean-up initiative that took place this past Saturday, 13 August on Russel Street.

As you are aware the ward has recently been faced with the issue of illegal dumping, with a variety illegal dumping hot spots emerging around the area.

This local initiative was started with the aim to tackle the on-going issue of illegal dumping and have different stakeholders within the community come together to assist in picking up litter and beautifying areas.

As the DA, we would like to thank all members of the community that came out on Saturday to assist with picking up litter and a big thank you also goes out to all the sponsors that came together to make the event possible and providing the necessary tools for the clean-up.

We look forward to seeing more initiatives such as this, where members of the community come together to take care of our environment and make a difference.
