The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ward 97, Ekurhuleni is pleased to announce the names of its ward committee members.

The election of a ward committee plays an important role in our communities as it allows for residents to actively take part in determining core municipal processes such as the Integrated Development Planning (IDP) and municipal budgeting in a manner that best addresses their needs.

These elected structures also provide a vital link between Ward Councillors and the community through processes such as public participation, at local government level where residents can make recommendations on ward issues and hold the Ward Councillor accountable on the execution of their duties.

Please see below for a list of positions and the elected representative:

· Happy N. Nkosi — Women and Children

· Martha M. Moeketsi — Faith Based Organisation

· Sakhile Siwela — Youth

· Annette Betsie Pienaar — Disability and Aged

· Gilbert Shirinda — Environmental Development

· Bongani Goodman Mathonsi — Infrastructure Services

· Smangaliso Jul Mejoane — Economic Development and City Planning

· Basani Queen Baloyi — Health and Social Development

· Mpho Modise — Sports, Heritage, Recreation, Arts and Culture

· Busisiwe Rosemary Maseko — Community Safety

The DA welcomes the above listed members, and is confident that together they will work hard to ensure that they represent the community responsibly in ensuring that the City of Ekurhuleni is responsive to the service delivery needs of the community.
