On Thursday, 29 September, during an ordinary council meeting the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ward 38, submitted a petition to council, on behalf of the residents of Brackendowns and Brackenhurst, for a burned building to be demolished,.

The DA received a petition from residents requesting the Real Estate Department to demolish the burned down building near Brackendowns Police Station.

As part of the motivation, the residents highlighted a concern about the value of the surrounding properties because of the burned building. Furthermore, residents have raised a concern that the state of the burnt building is an eyesore and serves no purpose in its current dilapidated state.

With the petition submitted, the DA will be tracking the progress and reporting back to the community once the petitions committee has concluded its work in considering the petition.

The DA remains committed to ensuring the pleas of residents are attended to and carried out as hoped for.
