Release: Immediate

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Brackenhurst and Brackendowns will be hosting an Entrepreneurship and Jobs Imbizo, which is set to take place virtually on, Saturday 4 September 2021. The theme of the event is ‘Growing a Local Economy Together’.
This crucial Imbizo is taking place at a critical time where residents in Ekurhuleni are among those affected by the ever-spiralling unemployment and poverty rate. With the ANC-run CIty’s unemployment rate at around 31.8% and just under a quarter of the people in Ekurhuleni living under the food poverty line, we need bold ideas.
With this in mind, the DA will be hosting an Entrepreneurship and Jobs Imbizo to offer solutions and ideas that will encourage the public to look out for opportunities to help grow the local economy.
While Ward 38, in Ekurhuleni, is a high Living Standard Measure (LSM) area, the DA has identified the area as one that could play a role in offering young people job opportunities and skilled development. It is our view that when business succeeds or communities will be uplifted.
The Imbizo hosted by the DA Bracken Branch will host a number of speakers, who will give the public tips on being successful in business and advice for those seeking employment.
Among some of the speakers present at the Imbizo will be, DA Cllr Senzi Sibeko, the DA Shadow MMC for Economic Development in Ekurhuleni as well as the DA Gauteng East Regional Chairperson.
Included as part of the speakers are, Mr Marco Petersen, Business Consultant; Mr Murray Kilgour, Leadership and Business Coach, as well as local entrepreneurs.
This event will be hosted virtually on Zoom, and broadcast live on the Ward Facebook page, ‘My Ward 38 Community — Brackenhurst and Brackendowns. ‘
Residents will be given an opportunity to join via the Zoom platform, however, they will need to register online, to receive the link to the meeting on zoom, click on the link to register for the event: https://forms.gle/tq9UcqxzhCeARzKj9.
The DA is committed to empowering residents by creating an environment for jobs creation and delivering better services in Ekurhuleni.
