The Democratic Alliance in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) collaborated with ward 09 Community members and the Department of Roads and Stormwater to clean and open the water channel for the pedestrian bridge linking Lekaneng and Motheong Sections in Tembisa.

This initiative was necessitated by constant complaints and the lack of action by the leadership of the municipality. Rains cause the bridge to become waterlogged and pose serious dangers to the residents and community members who use the bridge.

Members of the community pledged to keep the area clean and guard against any illegal dumping. We also noticed the bridge is not user friendly for people living with disabilities and requested the department to install ramps to allow usage for all community members.
