The Democratic Alliance (DA) City of Ekurhuleni can reveal that the EFF/ANC-led City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) is responsible for unattended streetlights because the department does not have sufficient light bulbs to repair streetlights.
In a question for written reply which was tabled during the council meeting held on Thursday 29 February 2024, to MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Ald. Nkosindiphile Xakaza over the reasons why the city’s departments failing to meet the set turnaround times in attending to service delivery requests.
To better understand the evidently collapsed service delivery in the city, the DA submitted questions to the MMC to give the details. While hoping for a clear plan to improve the service delivery standards, the DA received the confirmation that under the corrupt EFF and ANC convenient partnership, service delivery in the city is on its knees.
If a city such as CoE cannot even have enough light bulbs to repair streetlights, the current government cannot be trusted to deliver services as residents deserve. While the DA can continue to fight for the current government to deliver services, it is clear that it is not a feasible solution.
The only solution for better service delivery in CoE is for residents to support the call by the DA to call for fresh elections. This will give residents an opportunity to give the DA a clear mandate to govern and ensure better services in the city of Ekurhuleni.
