The Democratic Alliance (DA) stands with the community of Germiston who grow increasingly frustrated at the state of the Klopperpark swimming pool. The pool has become unsafe for the community to use.
Klopperpark swimming pool, previously advertised as ready to use, has again fallen into disrepair. More importantly though, the pool has no life guards, no first aid kits and no emergency equipment. The staff who claim to have not been paid also have no medical training and no access to a phone to even call for help.
Under the DA minority coalition, the pool was reopened in 2021. Unfortunately, 6 months after the Doomsday coalition took office, Klopperpark pool has again fallen into a state of disrepair.
Further, it has been revealed to the DA that there are ten pools across the City in need of maintenance, however, only R1 million has been allocated to equipment maintenance, completely ignoring the required building and infrastructure maintenance.
The DA Sport, Recreation Arts & Culture (SRAC) Spokesperson, Ald Dean Stone and the DA SRAC Oversight members will continue to hold the Doomsday coalition to account. Especially when their mismanagement directly endangers the lives residents in the city.
