Release: Immediate

Type: Media Statement

The DA Benoni Councillors are shocked that the uncaring EFF-led City of Ekurhuleni has left 100s of residents in Benoni without power since Friday morning 22nd December.

This is after the Councillors have escalated with reference numbers, as required. Unfortunately, the uncaring government of the day never acted on this matter as service delivery continues to deteriorate.

Residents have had to throw away food that has gone off due to the extended power outage. Despite reaching out to the EFF-puppet Mayor, he ignored our messages.

Ekurhuleni did not have the proper procedures in place and no standby team even after being informed that there would be standby teams available during the period that the Municipality offices were closed.

Benoni DA Councillors stand by the affected residents and will continue to put the necessary pressure on the failing Executive Mayor and those officials responsible for service delivery.
