MMC a No Show as Service Delivery Stalls
by Cllr. Mary Goby — DA Ward Councillor for Ward 28
Date: 20 July 2023
Release: Immediate
Type: Media Statement
The Democratic Alliance in the City of Ekurhuleni will be demanding answers from the EFF-ANC appointed Executive Mayor following the non-arrival of the delegated Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) to the Benoni area.
Every Customer Care Centre (CCC) office in Ekurhuleni has an MMC allocated to the area for Service Delivery. However, at a meeting scheduled today, 20 July 2023, the MMC failed to arrive, leaving councillors and officials waiting over an hour before the meeting was called off.
This appalling and unprofessional behaviour doesn’t just undermine the councillors and officials who waited patiently, but is a slap in the face of residents and businesses of the area who are crying out for service deliver answers and solutions.
Service delivery is in a state of collapse with most turnaround times captured in the City’s Service Level Agreement (SLA) is not being met.
In addition, councillors for Ward 23 and 25 were not included in the meeting, this despite their areas being serviced by the CCC.
The DA will be engaging the Executive Mayor on the non-attendance of his failing MMC. We cannot allow the collapse of service delivery to continue unabated.
