The Democratic Alliance in the City of Ekurhuleni can reveal that almost half of the tenders award by the EFF/ANC-led City of Ekurhuleni is awarded to non-based Ekurhuleni companies.

52% of contracts were awarded to CoE-based companies and 48% given to non-CoE companies which includes companies that are outside this province. The EFF-led coalitions unwillingness to provide opportunities to Ekurhuleni based businesses is appalling.

Furthermore, the so-called ‘Peoples’ Government’ has set itself the low target of only 3% for people living with disabilities with its SCM, yet the failing EFF-led government cannot meet that low target with an outcome of 0%.

The DA believes more needs to be done to foster relationships with local businesses and empower these businesses in order to provide the communities of Ekurhuleni with empowerment opportunities.
