While the city grapples with inconsistent water supply, water outages and low water pressure in several areas, Residents in Olympia Palms (council owned rental stock) have approached the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the City of Ekurhuleni, frustrated and at their wits end due to hundreds of liters of water streaming from several water leaks in their complex.

The complete lack of care from the so-called ‘People’s Government’ is clear, as these leaks have been reported numerous times to the Housing Department over the last year and to date the issue persists.

One houses’ water meter has such a bad leak that their the backyard is barely useable. Residents have now signed a petition in the hope that the municipality will intervene and assist.

With the possible implementation of water restrictions, it is unacceptable that this situation can continue unabated. Water is a scare and precious resource and we cannot allow it to be wasted like this.

The DA will be amplifying this petition and demanding the City acts urgently to address this matter. Water is life and the uncaring EFF/ANC administration must be held to account.
