Release: Immediate
Type: Media statement
The Democratic Alliance in Ekurhuleni is pleased with the road repairs, specifically pothole patching, conducted in Ward 11, Tembisa, following the launch of the Multi-Party Coalition’s campaign to address the major pothole backlog in the City.
During a site inspection conducted on Friday the 17th of June 2022, it was a welcome sight to see the long-standing potholes on the Corner of Dan Nkabinde and James Moleya Street in the Entshonalanga Section, being repaired by the Roads Department.
As the PR councillor for the Ward, I have been escalating the issue of these potholes and their impending danger to motorists for a number of years. It is thereby welcoming to see such progress being made on road repairs and is a testament to the success of the City’s Back to Basics campaign in improving service delivery.
With the passing of the 2022/23 budget, R285 million has been sourced specifically to road maintenance and repair, which promises to significantly improve the fixing of potholes throughout the Metro. As the PR Councillor for the Ward, I am pleased that Tembisa has been early benefactors of the City’s campaign against potholes, and look forward to an improvement in roads throughout the Metro.
