Following engagements with the community of Ward 26 the Democratic Alliance (DA) has slammed the failing ANC and its coalition partners over the complete collapse of service delivery in the area.

Frustrated residents reached out to us calling for our intervention and assistance after they have reported raw sewerage flowing down the streets for over three years and have received no assistance from the department, despite escalating this matter through the proper channels.

The uncaring ANC-led government of Ekurhuleni does not care about the lives of the residents. Children are forced to play in this area and residents walking past the sewerage have complained about health concerns as the stench is unbearable.

As the DA, we are calling for action from the failing ANC-run Metro and we will be escalating this matter to the City Manager to ensure residents of ward 26, can once again live with dignity and in a healthy environment.

Communities are growing tired of failing services across the ANC and coalition led City of Ekurhuleni. As the DA, we believe in getting the basics rights. It is time for change.
