Release: Immediate
Type: Media statement
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the City of Ekurhuleni will be pursuing all avenues over the alleged R2 Billion irregular security tender awarded in the EFF/ANC-governed City of Ekurhuleni.
The damning allegations of political pressure and interference in awarding of the security tender needs to be investigated with urgency!
As the DA, we will not allow the finances of the city to be abused and mismanaged by political parties while residents and communities cry out for basic services. Under a DA-led City of Ekurhuleni, we took a firm stance against fraud and corruption and reported any allegations of corruption to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) as well as undertook internal investigations.
The DA will be meeting with several whistle-blowers and senior offiicials and will be scrutinising all documentation received.
It is time to put the residents first! We cannot allow the funds of the city to be pilfered by the politically connected.
