Top Cop under IPID Investigation gets Promotion

The Democratic Alliance in the City of Ekurhuleni can reveal that a top cop in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) is under investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) for alleged fraud and misrepresentation.

In documents obtained by the DA, IPID has recommended that disciplinary steps be taken against Director Julius Mkhwanazi Persal, for allegedly fraudulently registering vehicles owned by the City of Ekurhuleni to a private security company.

While Director Julius Mkhwanazi Persal was suspended with full pay, whistleblowers approached the DA and revealed that he has now allegedly been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Police in the city.

The DA will launch a full investigation into these allegations. We cannot allow officers who are tasked to serve and protect to use their positions for criminal activities and worst of all be promoted while under investigation.

This is a slap in the face for residents and communities who constantly feel unsafe due to the failing state of our police force.

We cannot allow corrupt officers and officials to be promoted to top positions! This is a clear indication of how the unholy alliance of the EFF and the ANC do business across the country.
