Ward Candidate Profile

Name: Bongani Nkosi

Ward: Ward 6, Ekurhuleni

My name is Bongani Nkosi, and I am the Democratic Alliance Ward 6 Candidate in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).

I am standing as a Ward Councillor to ensure that the community receives adequate service delivery and an active voice that represents their interests.

The biggest issues facing the Ward include the refurbishment of the Tembisa Old Age Home and the building of proper Sassa offices in Tembisa and Kempton Park. More generally, there are high levels of crime, dysfunctional streetlights and illegal dumping.

My vision for the Ward is for there to be better coordination between SAPS and EMPD for better community policing to keep residents safe, as well as greater coordination between stakeholders to grow the township economy and provide opportunities especially for the youth.

I have started and registered a sewing project in my community. I have also helped my community to establish and register the Tembisa Netball Association to help unearth talent that will represent Ekurhuleni and South Africa in Netball World Cup in 2022.

I have held leadership positions from primary through to university and in my community organizations. I am a founder of several NPO and NGO organizations. I am an educator with B degree for Wits, an honors degree in Education from University of Pretoria and a Masters from Middlesex University from the UK. I have been to the World Economic Forum in Geneva in 2005 as part of my internship for my Masters, which have provided me with excellent experience in local government.
