Joint Media Statement by Cllr. Jean Ingram, DA Ward 39 Councillor, and Cllr. Graham Gersbach, DA PR Councillor for Ward 39.
Date: 2 December 2022
Release: Immediate
Type: Media statement
Ward 39 Councillor, Jean Ingram, will be hosting a clean-up day alongside Cllr. Graham Gersbach, PR Councillor for Wards 35 and 39, coalition partners and various other business and community organisations. We would like to extend an invitation to the residents of Delville, local businesses, community groups, scouts, schools, public representatives, and any other interested parties to do their part by joining us for a few hours to clean up our community.
Date: Saturday 10 December 2022.
Starting Time: 08:00 AM
Meeting Point: Germiston Stadium Entrance, Delville North Road, Delville.
Target Areas of the Clean-Up Project:
We will be tackling the Perimeter of the Germiston Stadium, Delville Swimming Pool, Delville/ Germiston Bowling Club, and other sports facilities and open spaces in and around the sports grounds. The clean-up will extend to other parts of Delville dependent on the level of community participation on the day.
Those joining us please bring along family, friends, suitable protective clothing, equipment to assist and water to drink.
This initiative has been prompted by the waste removal turn-around strategy introduced by the Executive Mayor, Alderman Tania Campbell, and the MMC for Environment and Waste Management, Councillor Brandon Pretorius. Although significant efforts have already been made by the Multi-Party Government to improve waste removal, we would like the community of Delville to start on a clean slate as we usher in the New Year. The City will be rolling out several cleaning initiatives to kick start the new year and has committed to providing a permanent solution to the waste issue in the area.
In the interim, we urge residents to take pride in our community by keeping the environment clean and refraining from illegal dumping.
