Windermere Drive in Lakefield, Ekurhuleni, is a massive hazard for mototsists with gaping potholes littering the surface of the road.

The road, which serves as a major thoroughfare connecting Farrarmere and Lakefield, sees heavy traffic flow on a daily basis and is an accident waiting to happen due to the countless potholes and stones strewn across the road surface.

The Department of Roads and Stormwater neglected to build any form of storm water drainage, which means that flooding is a regular occurrence on the road, especially during the rainy season — as a result compromising the surface of the road creating deep potholes and dislodging sizeable rocks and stones, which are a danger to pedestrians and motorists alike.

Despite these dangers, the ANC Coalition-led City of Ekurhuleni have done little to remedy the situation, directly putting the safety of pedestrians and motorists at risk.

For too long Windermere Drive has posed a danger to commuters.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ekurhuleni thereby calls on the Department of Roads & Stormwater to take urgent action to fix the road and create a safer environment for residents.
